Design & Construction
- Each positive and negative channel uses 1 × 12GA + 1 × 16GA + 1 × 20GA Duelund tinned copper conductors.
- A 2.5-meter stereo pair incorporates a total of 10m of 12GA + 10m of 16GA + 10m of 20GA Duelund tinned copper wire.
- Multiple types and layers of shielding materials help reduce noise and RFI/EMI interference.
- A specialized damping design incorporates multiple anti-vibration and damping materials to suppress mechanical vibration and improve isolation.
- Standard length: 2.5m, with other lengths available.
- Termination options: OEM Banana Plugs or OEM Y-Spade Plugs.
Sound Characteristics
The Reference Series delivers a dynamic yet smooth presentation, with natural transitions across both high- and low-frequency passages. It offers excellent sound density, full-bodied tonality, purity, and fine detail while maintaining a highly musical character.
Its natural texture and rich musical information evoke the character of premium vinyl and analog playback. The Duelund tinned copper conductors also exhibit sonic qualities associated with the classic Western Electric (WE) sound, contributing to a warm, natural, and musically engaging presentation.
The overall character is balanced, harmonious, and relaxed, allowing musical melodies and textures to flow naturally.
Conductor Cross-Sectional Area
The estimated combined conductor cross-sectional area per +/− channel is approximately 5.14 mm² (Duelund copper).
Recommendation
The Reference Series Speaker Cable is designed to deliver a balanced interpretation of the classic Duelund/Western Electric sonic character. Its natural tonality and well-balanced presentation make it suitable for a wide range of Hi-Fi systems, particularly systems where neutrality, musicality, and overall balance are priorities.
Cable Run-In
Audiolund cables primarily employ multi-core designs with carefully selected combinations of conductors. As a result, sufficient run-in time is recommended for the cables to reach their intended performance.
OCC silver conductors, particularly thicker solid-core designs, generally require a longer run-in period than Duelund tinned copper conductors, which use multiple parallel fine strands.
As a general guideline, we recommend approximately 100–200 hours of run-in.
I got the Reference SC for my secondary system so I choose from the more affordable range from Audiolund. To get a sense of sound signature, I tried in my main system, replacing the Antipodes Komko silver/gold alloy SC. My entire system is cabled with Antipodes Reference or Komko cables which have fended off far more expensive and big name challengers in my system. Antipodes cables are no longer produced (the company has focused on digital network players) but were very well reviewed when they were available. I was expecting some copper forwardness and drop in sound quality but I was pleasantly surprised by the naturalness of the Audiolund cables. They were competing despite the big price difference. The build quality of Audiolund cables is also top notch that belie their price. I believe these cables represent great value. Highly recommended!
