Audiolund XLR Balance Interconnect Cable ~ Reference Series
- Improved construction: Revised XLR cable architecture for enhanced sound quality and overall performance.
- Conductor configuration: Each positive and negative signal path uses a combination of 1 × 16GA + 1 × 20GA Duelund tinned copper wire.
- Conductor quantity: A 1.0-meter pair uses a total of 4m × 16GA + 4m × 20GA Duelund tinned copper wire, plus 2m of silver-plated copper wire for grounding.
- Multi-layer shielding: Multiple types and layers of shielding materials are employed to reduce noise and RFI/EMI interference.
- Vibration control: A dedicated damping design incorporates multiple anti-vibration and damping materials to suppress and isolate unwanted mechanical vibration.

Performance & Sound Characteristics

Its presentation is highly dynamic, with smooth transitions across both high- and low-level passages. Sound density is substantial, with a full-bodied, pure, and refined character while maintaining excellent musicality.
The tonal texture is natural and engaging, conveying rich musical information with a presentation reminiscent of premium vinyl and analog playback. Duelund tinned copper conductors also exhibit sonic characteristics associated with the classic Western Electric (WE) tonal character.

The Reference Series XLR Interconnect Cable is designed around a balanced interpretation of the classic Duelund/Western Electric sonic character. Its natural tonal balance and musical presentation make it well suited to a wide range of Hi-Fi systems and an excellent choice as a reference interconnect in a well-balanced audio system.
XLR Plug Orientation
Audiolund cables use a substantial multi-core construction and are consequently thicker and stiffer than conventional cables. Although the cable can be bent for installation, excessive twisting should be avoided.
Correct XLR connector orientation is therefore important, particularly when routing the cable between components.
The standard XLR plug orientation is shown above. However, the ideal orientation may vary depending on the position and arrangement of your equipment, such as:
- Top to bottom
- Left to right
- Right to left
To ensure the correct XLR plug orientation for your installation, please provide a photo of the rear of your equipment clearly showing the XLR connectors and the relative positions of the connected components.
This will allow us to determine the appropriate connector orientation before assembling your cable.
Cable Run-In
Audiolund cables primarily employ multi-core designs with carefully selected combinations of conductors. As a result, sufficient run-in time is recommended for the cables to reach their intended performance.
OCC silver conductors, particularly thicker solid-core designs, generally require a longer run-in period than Duelund tinned copper conductors, which use multiple parallel fine strands.
As a general guideline, we recommend approximately 100–200 hours of run-in.
