Design & Construction
- Enhanced Design: The AES/EBU Digital Cable construction has been refined to further improve overall sound quality and performance.
- Hybrid Conductor Configuration: Uses 2 × 12GA + 2 × 20GA Duelund tinned copper conductors, combined with 2 × 8 solid-core 5N OCC silver conductors in 18GA + 24GA + 26GA + 28GA + 29GA + 29GA + 32GA + 32GA.
- Multi-Layer Shielding: Multiple types and layers of shielding materials are used to help reduce noise and RFI/EMI interference.
- Advanced Damping: A unique damping construction incorporates multiple anti-vibration and damping materials to help suppress and isolate mechanical vibration.
- Standard Length: 1.0 metre, with additional lengths available upon request
Sound Characteristics
The Xtreme Silver Series AES/EBU Digital Cable combines 5N OCC silver conductors ranging from 18GA to 32GA with 2 × 12GA + 2 × 20GA Duelund tinned copper conductors in a carefully tuned hybrid configuration.
Designed to combine the strengths of both the Xtreme Series and True Silver Series, the Xtreme Silver Series offers a more balanced presentation rather than emphasizing the individual sonic character of either design.
It retains the natural, smooth, full-bodied and highly musical character associated with the Xtreme Series and classic Western Electric-style sound, complemented by a quiet background and excellent overall balance. At the same time, the 5N OCC silver conductors contribute the sweetness, delicacy, speed, power and dynamic response associated with the True Silver Series.
The result is a natural, refined and highly musical presentation, combining the warmth and tonal richness of the Xtreme Series with the clarity, speed and dynamic qualities of pure silver.
AES/EBU 110-Ohm Performance
Although we do not use precision impedance measurement equipment to independently measure the cable, the Xtreme Silver Series AES/EBU Digital Cable has been tested and evaluated with several high-end transport/DAC systems without observed signal errors.
In our listening comparisons, it has also demonstrated performance competitive with established branded 110-ohm AES/EBU digital cables.
The Xtreme Silver Series is designed to combine the sonic character associated with Western Electric-style conductors with the clarity and responsiveness of modern high-purity silver. This balanced presentation is intended to complement a wide range of high-end audio systems.
Humble Recommendation
If you appreciate both the natural, rich and musical character of the Xtreme Series and the sweet, detailed, fast and dynamic presentation of the True Silver Series, but find it difficult to choose between them, the Xtreme Silver Series offers the ideal balance of both.

XLR Plugs Orientations
Audiolund cables use substantial multi-conductor construction and are therefore relatively thick and firm. Although the cables can be bent into position, twisting the cable can be more difficult when the XLR connector orientation does not match the equipment layout.
We therefore recommend confirming the required XLR plug orientation before the cable is built.
The standard XLR orientation is suitable for most installations. However, the ideal orientation may vary depending on your equipment arrangement, for example:
- Top to bottom
- Left to right
- Right to left
For custom orientation, please provide a clear photograph of the rear of your equipment showing the XLR connectors and their orientation. This will allow us to determine the most suitable cable and connector alignment for your system.

Cable Run-In
Most Audiolund cables use multi-core designs incorporating various conductor types, gauges, and combinations. As a result, they require an extended run-in period to reach their intended sonic performance.
The thick, solid-core OCC silver conductors typically require a longer run-in period than Duelund tinned copper conductors, which use multiple parallel strands of finer wire.
As a general guideline:
- Most Audiolund cables: approximately 100 to 200 hours
- Xtreme Silver Series: approximately 200 to 400 hours
Because the Xtreme Silver Series incorporates multiple solid-core OCC silver conductors together with Duelund tinned copper conductors, additional run-in time is recommended before making final critical listening evaluations.
