Construction & Specifications
- Conductors: 20GA Duelund tinned copper combined with seven solid-core 5N OCC silver conductors (24GA + 26GA + 28GA + 29GA + 29GA + 32GA + 32GA) for the positive and negative data paths, power, and ground.
- Advanced Shielding: Multiple types and layers of shielding materials are employed to minimize noise and RFI/EMI interference.
- Vibration Control: A dedicated damping structure incorporating multiple anti-vibration and damping materials helps suppress and isolate unwanted mechanical vibration.
- Standard Length: 1.0m, with other lengths available upon request.
- Configurations: Available in Standard USB or Dual-Headed USB versions.
Standard USB version: Features one USB-A and one USB-B connector, with no provision for a separate 5V DC power supply.
Dual-headed USB version: Features two USB-A connectors and one USB-B connector, enabling a separate 5V DC power supply. One USB-A connects to the audio source, while the second USB-A connects to an external 5V DC power supply.
Sound Characteristics
The Xtreme Silver Series uses seven solid-core 5N OCC silver conductors, ranging from 24GA to 32GA, per signal path, combined with 20GA Duelund tinned copper.
It brings together the natural, smooth, full-bodied and highly musical presentation of the Xtreme Series with the sweetness, delicacy, speed, dynamics and resolution associated with the True Silver Series. The result is a refined and engaging presentation with a notably quiet background and a tonal character inspired by classic Western Electric sound.
The Xtreme Silver Series USB cable is specifically designed for high-end digital audio applications, including streamers, media players, DDCs and DACs, where sound quality is the primary objective. It is not recommended for general networking or computing applications.
Testing & Verification
Rather than making a laboratory-certified impedance claim, Audiolund evaluates its USB cables through extensive listening and operational testing across multiple high-end digital audio systems, including streamers, transports and DACs.
Testing across various system configurations has demonstrated stable operation without observed signal errors, together with excellent sonic performance when compared with established high-end USB cables.
Note: As the cable has not been independently verified using precision impedance-measurement equipment, we recommend avoiding a definitive claim that it is certified to the USB 90-ohm differential impedance specification.

USB A-B Plugs Orientation
Audiolund cables feature a relatively thick and substantial construction. While the cable can be bent for installation, its construction makes twisting more difficult. Correct connector orientation is therefore important for easier installation and to minimize unnecessary torsional stress on the cable and connectors.
The USB A-B connectors are supplied in our standard orientation. However, the ideal orientation may vary depending on the placement and configuration of your equipment, for example:
- Top to bottom
- Left to right
- Right to left
To ensure the correct connector orientation for your system, please provide a clear photo of the rear of your equipment showing the USB A-B connection points when placing your order.
Cable Run-In
Most Audiolund cables use multi-core designs incorporating various conductor types, gauges, and combinations. As a result, they require an extended run-in period to reach their intended sonic performance.
The thick, solid-core OCC silver conductors typically require a longer run-in period than Duelund tinned copper conductors, which use multiple parallel strands of finer wire.
As a general guideline:
- Most Audiolund cables: approximately 100 to 200 hours
- Xtreme Silver Series: approximately 200 to 400 hours
Because the Xtreme Silver Series incorporates multiple solid-core OCC silver conductors together with Duelund tinned copper conductors, additional run-in time is recommended before making final critical listening evaluations.
