Construction & Features
- Conductor Design: Uses seven solid-core 5N OCC silver conductors (24GA + 26GA + 28GA + 29GA + 29GA + 32GA + 32GA) combined with 20GA Duelund tinned copper conductors for TP1/TP2 +/-. TP3/TP4 +/- use 20GA Duelund tinned copper conductors.
- RJ45 Connectors: Built with high-quality Ethernet connectors and verified for appropriate operation based on the RJ45 T-568B wiring standard.
- Network Speed: 100 Mbps is sufficient for many audio applications, such as internal network switches, while 1 Gbps is recommended for network connectivity and higher-traffic devices such as a Roon Core. Gigabit connectivity is also recommended when streaming music from services such as Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, and Apple Music. All Audiolund Ethernet cables are constructed with the full eight-wire configuration for both audio and network applications.
- Ethernet / RJ45 I2S/IIS Application: Designed for use as either an Ethernet cable or RJ45 I2S/IIS cable using the RJ45 T-568B wiring standard. It may be used between compatible Transport/DAC or Streamer/DAC components as an alternative to S/PDIF or AES balanced digital connections.
- Advanced Shielding: Multiple types and layers of shielding materials are incorporated to help minimize noise and RFI/EMI interference.
- Vibration Control: A dedicated damping design incorporates multiple anti-vibration and damping materials to help suppress mechanical vibration and improve isolation.
- Standard Length: 1.0 m, with additional lengths available upon request.
RJ45 I2S/IIS Cable
When used as an RJ45 I2S/IIS cable, the cable is constructed according to the standard RJ45 T-568B wiring configuration.
For equipment requiring a special I2S pinout that differs from the T-568B configuration, please contact us to discuss a custom configuration.
Conductor Design for Audio Applications
Typical RJ45 Ethernet cable specifications use conductors between 22 AWG and 28 AWG. The Xtreme Silver Series uses seven solid-core 5N OCC silver conductors (24GA + 26GA + 28GA + 29GA + 29GA + 32GA + 32GA) combined with 20GA Duelund tinned copper conductors.
This specialized conductor configuration extends beyond conventional Ethernet cable specifications and is intentionally optimized for high-performance audio applications. For this reason, we recommend the Xtreme Silver Series primarily for audio systems rather than general-purpose, non-audio network installations.

Humble Comments
If you appreciate both the classic Western Electric-inspired sound character and the qualities of pure silver, particularly musicality and tonal balance, the Xtreme Silver Series RJ45 Ethernet Cable could be an excellent choice.
My personal favorites are the Ultimate Silver Series, constructed with seven smaller solid-core OCC silver conductors, and the Flagship Series, which combines Duelund tinned copper with 5N OCC silver conductors.
For those seeking a slightly more affordable alternative while retaining many of these sonic qualities, the Xtreme Silver Series RJ45 Ethernet Cable offers an excellent balance of performance and value.

RJ45 Ethernet Plugs Orientation
Audiolund cables use substantial conductor and shielding configurations, resulting in a relatively thick and firm cable construction. Although the cable can be bent for installation, excessive twisting should be avoided.
For this reason, correct RJ45 plug orientation is important, particularly when equipment is positioned vertically or horizontally, or when connections run from top to bottom, left to right, or right to left.
To ensure the correct plug orientation for your system, please provide a clear photograph of your equipment viewed from the rear, showing the location and orientation of the RJ45 Ethernet connectors.
Cable Run-In
Most Audiolund cables use multi-core designs incorporating various conductor types, gauges, and combinations. As a result, they require an extended run-in period to reach their intended sonic performance.
The thick, solid-core OCC silver conductors typically require a longer run-in period than Duelund tinned copper conductors, which use multiple parallel strands of finer wire.
As a general guideline:
- Most Audiolund cables: approximately 100 to 200 hours
- Xtreme Silver Series: approximately 200 to 400 hours
Because the Xtreme Silver Series incorporates multiple solid-core OCC silver conductors together with Duelund tinned copper conductors, additional run-in time is recommended before making final critical listening evaluations.
