Construction
The Duelund DCA12GA600V is a 12 AWG, 600 VDC-rated hook-up wire constructed from multistrand tinned copper conductors with a PolyCAST dielectric jacket.
The PolyCAST dielectric uses a proprietary thermoplastic resin composite developed to emulate characteristics of Duelund’s signature CAST process.
Important: PolyCAST Version, Not Oil/Cotton
Please note that this is not the oil/cotton version of Duelund wire. We use Duelund DCAXGA600V tinned copper wire with a 600 V PolyCAST sleeve.
The range is available in three conductor sizes:
- 12 AWG: 2.2 mm total copper-core diameter, comprising 63 parallel strands of 0.23 mm
- 16 AWG: 1.3 mm total copper-core diameter, comprising 26 parallel strands of 0.23 mm
- 20 AWG: 0.9 mm total copper-core diameter, comprising 25 parallel strands of 0.14 mm
Why We Use the PolyCAST Version
Many cable manufacturers use Duelund DCAXGA tinned copper multistrand wire with a cotton-and-oil dielectric. While this construction can be well suited to simple, unshielded bare-wire applications, it does not align with our multicore cable architecture.
Our cables therefore use Duelund DCAXGA600V conductors with a PolyCAST sleeve, which is better suited to our multicore construction and application requirements.
Importantly, the fundamental conductor construction remains equivalent between the corresponding PolyCAST and oil/cotton versions, using the same conductor diameter, strand count, and individual strand dimensions.
Our cable architecture further integrates multiple layers of shielding and vibration control. This allows us to take advantage of the Duelund tinned copper conductor while incorporating the additional electrical and mechanical control required by our cable designs.
