Audiolund Ethernet Cable/RJ45 I2S Cable ~ Ultimate Silver Series
- Uses specially selected European-made 5N OCC silver conductors. Each cable is individually twisted, shielded, and handcrafted with careful attention to construction and consistency.
- Features 8 × 7 solid-core conductors, combining 24GA + 26GA + 28GA + 29GA + 29GA + 32GA + 32GA 5N OCC silver wires across TP1/TP2 +/- and TP3/TP4 +/-.
- Built with high-quality Ethernet connectors and verified for compliance with the applicable RJ45 T-568B wiring configuration and intended data-rate specification.
- 100 Mbps is sufficient for many audio applications, such as internal network switches, while 1 Gbps is recommended for network connectivity and higher-data-traffic devices such as a Roon Core processor. Gigabit connectivity is also recommended when streaming music from services such as Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, and Apple Music. All Audiolund Ethernet cables are constructed with the full eight conductors for both audio and network applications.

What is the difference between LVDS and CMOS? (From Internet)
LVDS has the advantage over CMOS due to the lower signal swings and differential signaling. The LVDS output driver does not have to drive such a large signal to many different outputs and does not draw a large amount of current from the power supply when switching logic states, as the CMOS driver would. For I2S RJ45 single ended, LVDS will not work.
Ethernet cabling commonly uses conductors within the 22 AWG to 28 AWG range. The Ultimate Silver Series uses a seven-conductor combination of 24GA + 26GA + 28GA + 29GA + 29GA + 32GA + 32GA 5N OCC solid silver wires.
Because this specialized multi-core construction differs from conventional Ethernet cable geometry, the Ultimate Silver Series is primarily designed and optimized for high-end audio applications. For general-purpose or non-audio networking applications, conventional standards-compliant Ethernet cabling is recommended.
Ultimate Silver Series vs. True Silver Series
The Ultimate Silver Series Ethernet / RJ45 Cable offers a slightly more defined and refined overall presentation, reflecting the characteristics of its seven-core pure OCC silver conductor design.
Both the Ultimate Silver Series and True Silver Series use OCC silver conductors and deliver a similarly high level of overall sound quality, but their different conductor architectures create subtle differences in sonic character:
- True Silver Series: Slightly warmer through the midrange, attributed to its thicker 18AWG solid-core OCC silver conductors.
- Ultimate Silver Series: Slightly more refined and balanced across the frequency range, using seven thinner solid-core OCC silver conductors of different gauges.
Our Listening Impression
In a high-quality digital front-end system, the Ultimate Silver Series Ethernet / RJ45 Cable delivers an exceptionally refined presentation. Its sonic character can be described as smooth, delicate, dynamic, fast, full-bodied, and organically textured, with a strong tonal presence and natural warmth.
In our listening evaluations, the Ultimate Silver Series performs at a level intended to compete confidently with premium high-end Ethernet and RJ45 cables in the audiophile market.
1) Default: Gold Foil + Black Stripe on Black Background
- Provides better wear resistance for the red copper and plastic decorative strips.
2) Silver Foil + Transparent Strip on Black Background
- The silver foil has lower wear resistance and should therefore be handled with greater care.
RJ45 Ethernet Plugs Orientation
Audiolund cables use a substantial multi-core construction and are therefore relatively thick and firm. Although the cable can be bent as required, excessive twisting should be avoided, particularly when the orientation of the RJ45 connectors does not align naturally with the equipment.
The standard RJ45 plug orientation is shown above. However, the ideal connector orientation also depends on the placement of your equipment and the direction of the cable run, such as:
- Top to bottom
- Left to right
- Right to left
To ensure the correct connector orientation, please provide a photo of the rear of your equipment showing the RJ45 ports when placing your order.
Cable Run-In
Most Audiolund cables use multi-core designs incorporating multiple conductor types and gauges. As a result, sufficient run-in time is recommended before making a final assessment of their sound.
The relatively thick solid-core OCC silver conductors may require a longer run-in period than Duelund tinned copper conductors, which use multiple parallel thin strands.
As a general guideline:
- Most Audiolund cables: approximately 100–200 hours
- Ultimate Silver Series: approximately 200–400 hours
The Ultimate Silver Series uses a particularly complex combination of multiple solid-core OCC silver conductors and Duelund tinned copper conductors and may therefore require additional run-in time before reaching a stable sonic presentation.
Having tried and owning some higher end to mid tier cables, for the price of this cable, the music offered details in a very quiet, not dark background. I could clearly hear and tell where the instruments are. Voices were warm, full and lush. This cable has managed to unveil a few layers where I previously thought was not good recording from certain albums. This has motivated me to relisten my music to rediscover what I have. With these qualities gained from this cable, this is imho a cable of great value for the money.
The soundstage of the cable is much better than others and clarity is exceptional. This is my 5th cable from Audiolund.
